@hulahifi opened for @jumplittlechildren at @radioroomgreenville yesterday evening. This was the first time I have seen them perform live.
Their sound is ethereal, chill, meditative and relaxing --- Hawaiian Noir fusion.
The lead singer, @danicadora , has an entrancing presence and calming, soulful voice. She sings into a gold, vintage microphone.
@joshuakaler plays slide guitar on an instrument I've never seen in person before. I had to Google it 😆😬. After researching, I believe the instrument to be a Lap Steel Guitar. Much like the image of Johnny, during last night's @jumplittlechildren concert at @radioroomgreenville I found myself with eyes closed head and body swaying, lost in the music.
Jump Little Children remains as one of the largest musical influences of my life. It was a highlight of my career to photograph them for the second time.
Johnny's double bass dancing and wild facial hair, Matt's prose and poetic hand dances, Ward's jokes and crowd interaction, Evan's concentration and Jay's content smile--- these are the moments that fans like me crave.
I spoke with a number of fans at last night's show. Many of them, like myself, discovered the band while in college. We continue to return and experience the music as we support one of the best bands of the Carolinas.
